Mother’s Day in NJ: Where to take Mom for the big day

For years, Mom could be found slaving away in the kitchen, cooking you up hot breakfasts, delicious lunches and dinners that were the envy of all of your friends. However, this Sunday, May 12, you better make sure that it’s someone else serving her.

Here in Central Jersey, a mecca of mouthwatering dining, we have plenty of places that are sure to impress Mom on her special day with an unforgettable meal. If you’re looking for some ideas, read on below and then, hurry and make your reservations before they full up.

Verve, Somerville

A 23-year-old staple of the borough, Verve is every Somerville resident’s friendly neighborhood hangout, equipped with a speakeasy-style vibe, intimate red walls, eclectic artwork and a staff that comes with some serious resumes. If Mom loves a stiff drink — or stellar French cuisine — then this is the spot.

Verve will host a Mother’s Day three-course prix fixe brunch from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., followed by an a la carte dinner service from 5-9 p.m. On the brunch menu, which costs $35 per adult and $15 per child, guests can find items such as duck confit hash, Verve-style eggs Benedict and local mushroom crepes.
